First Post!
Hi,
This is the first official post of Aluminium Balustrades (North Coast) News. We will endeavour to keep you up-to-date with the latest news involving balustrade designs, laws and company information.
I will start by saying congratulations to Rob Windsor retiring after a very successful 27 years within the Company. He will be missed.
With Rob on the road (literally), Dean Abbey takes the helm as General Manager. You can download the full newsletter here which goes through Robs time here at ABnc.
Over the next few weeks I will be teaching Dean and Jan to post here in our blog, so that everyone can be kept up-to-date. If you have any questions or queries, please email myself at sam@abnc.com.au
Sam

Hi there, I have seen a cheap Aluminium balustrade finish for glass balconies. The company calls it “Royal Crome”, but this has a very poor finish and you can see all the anodizing marks and decoloration.

Hi Richard,
We do not do anodising purely because of the facts you just stated, its a poor finish. Unfortunately, there is no Aluminium ‘Stainless-look-alike” finishes available for a balustrading system (in Australia). There are companies attempting it, but no-one has been able to get a quality product to the market.
I recommend you have a look at the Dulux Powders website and have a look at Precious Silver Pearl or Precious Steel Pearl. Both are very popular, and have a 7 year guarantee (in the Dulux Durally range). Link below FYI.

Thanks Sam, great link, I like the finishes, nothing to compare with that cheap Royal Chrome anodized aluminium promoted as “stainless steel-look-alike”. I realize the anodize is a poor finish, we visited a site using glass balconies with aluminium anodized handrails and looking closer could see all the horrible lines, spots and decoloration of the material, some photos attached for your reference: http://www.balconette.co.uk/en/uk/Gallery/Files/Refurbishment/Colour%20Samples/IMG_1905.JPG

Thanks for the link Richard, I see this company Balcony Systems Ltd promotes the material as Royal Chrome – stainless steel look-alike (in UK), however looking at the photos I can clearly see it does not look like real stainless steel nor looks like proper chrome… too dark and dull. I also understand that the real product shows the anodizing lines and manufacturing defects?

Yes Mark, the Royal Chrome finish of the aluminium railings as in your comment is poorly made, does not shine like stainless steel and shows lots of defects if you see closer. Unfortunately, you wouldn’t notice it until you receive your manufactured aluminium balustrading!.. better off with stainless steel.

Richard,
Stainless steel is quite an amazing product, however it is subject to Tea Staining, and you will be forever maintaining your balustrade. Please review the guarantees’ powdercoating comes with, such as a 7 year backed guarentee from Dulux Duralloy. There are 100’s of colours to choose from. We have been powdercoating our products for over 20 years, and not one has come back under a warranty claim.
